NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Akitoshi Ichii) has been selected for inclusion in the international non-profit organization CDP’s “A List,” its highest rating for climate change disclosure, in fiscal 2025. Additionally, NSK received an A- rating — the second-highest evaluation — in the water security category.

CDP operates the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system, which has become the global standard for environmental information disclosure. In 2025, over 22,100 companies disclosed information to CDP, with the majority of companies listed on Japan’s Prime Market responding to its survey. Evaluations are based on criteria including governance, risks and opportunities, business strategy, targets, and engagement, with ratings assigned across eight levels: Leadership (A, A-), Management (B, B-), Awareness (C, C-), and Disclosure (D, D-). This year, NSK achieved the top A List rating in the climate change area for the first time, placing the company in approximately the top 4% of responding companies.       NSK’s Climate Change Initiatives NSK has made carbon neutrality a core management value. In response to the urgent challenge of climate change, the company is working to achieve carbon neutrality throughout its entire supply chain. NSK is committed to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions across the entire product lifecycle — not only in the manufacturing process, but also during customer use of NSK products and through to their disposal. Collaboration with upstream supply chain partners is vital, especially in manufacturing. NSK clearly explains its carbon neutrality approach to suppliers and, with their consent, is expanding the visualization of energy consumption and the tracking of CO2 emissions across its supplier network.    Under MTP2026, NSK’s mid-term management plan through FY2026, the company has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality for its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by FY2035. As an interim goal, NSK aims to halve its own CO2 emissions by FY2026 compared to the FY2017 baseline. Through energy conservation, technological innovation, and the adoption of renewable energy, NSK has been actively reducing CO2 emissions. As a result, CO2 emissions in FY2024 were down to 420,000 tons, achieving the FY2026 target ahead of schedule. These initiatives are disclosed in NSK’s securities reports, the NSK Report, and the company’s sustainability website. Furthermore, NSK has published an industry-first* CFP (carbon footprint of products) calculation report for bearings, demonstrating a proactive approach to information disclosure. *In July 2025, NSK became the first company in Japan’s bearing industry to publish a CFP assessment report for bearings. In September 2025, NSK also released the first CFP assessment report in the ball screw industry.    Building on its existing carbon neutrality policies, NSK is also advancing its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions based on SBTi’s science-based approach by working to obtain SBT validation. The company will continue to pursue highly credible initiatives for sustainable growth and solutions to societal challenges, contributing to the realization of a net-zero society by 2050.
